Kindle Sample Readings

February 16, 2008

A number of publishers offer web browsers the opportunity to read a sample selection from a book online, often via a PDF file.

Amazon, is copying the features available in its online Search Inside functionality by allowing Kindle readers to read selections from available titles at no cost. If the reader likes it they can can order the entire book with the press of a button, and it will be downloaded to the Kindle reader via its wireleass interface.

An example of the Amazon Kindle sampling is below:

From a marketing perspective, we believe that this feature will have a dramatic impact on sales of Kindle books. Once you read a few pages, you are much more likely to hit the purchase button so that you can continue reading the book to its conclusion.
